Our Staff Lester Long, Executive Director Lester Long graduated from Dartmouth College in 1993, where he majored in Economics, while also concentrating in Government. Immediately thereafter, he started his career in investment banking, rising from an entry level analyst to Vice President within six years, and working for firms such as Societe Generale and Lehman Brothers. Mr. Long specialized in executing corporate debt, collateralized lending, and asset-backed transactions worldwide, including doing business in Europe, Thailand, and Japan. With a desire to share his success, he began a second career teaching elementary school in the South Bronx through the New York City Teaching Fellows Program, which places accomplished professionals from other fields in the City's most under-performing schools. During his four years in the New York City public school system, Mr. Long taught literacy, mathematics, music, and physical education to general and special education students of all grades. While teaching during the day, he earned a Master's in Elementary Education from Hunter College at night. Scott Hudnor, Principal After Scott Hudnor graduated from Castleton State College in 1995, he worked in corporate America for three years. Thereafter, Mr. Hudnor launched his career in education, beginning teaching fifth and sixth grade students within the AmeriCorp program for two years. Mr. Hudnor then joined Teach For America, a national program designed to enlist "the nation's most promising leaders" in the effort to eliminate educational inequity. During his time with Teach For America, Mr. Hudnor taught fourth grade for 5 years, and a year as a Behavioral Interventionist for grades preK to fifth grade. Thereafter, Mr. Hudnor was accepted in the New Leaders for New Schools fellowship, where he studied and performed as a Resident Principal at Excellence Charter School, a high-performing charter school in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. Mr. Hudnor received an MA in Teaching from John Hopkins. Leena Konda, Operations Manager Leena Konda is a founding staff member, joining prior to the school's opening. After graduating from Mount Holyoke College with a major of Economics, Ms. Konda was a founding member of the MATCH Corps at MATCH Charter School in Boston, Massachusetts, where she spent a year tutoring and providing academic support to high school students. MATCH is one of the nation's most successful high schools. Before joining South Bronx Classical as Operations Manager, Ms. Konda attended NYU's Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
